Cerise has served as president and CEO of Parkland Health since 2014. His previous roles include the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals and the vice president for health affairs and medical education of the Louisiana State University System.
Cerise holds a medical degree from Louisiana State University, a master’s degree in public health from Harvard University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
Cerise previously served as a commissioner on the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission, and he serves on the boards of the Kaiser Family Foundation, American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation, and the Nurse-Family Partnership.
