Michael Hales, MPA

Hales is the senior director of government healthcare programs at the University of Utah Health (U Health). He has 25 years of experience in the health care industry, including 10 years spent leading Utah’s Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance programs. At U Health, Hales provides strategic advice on federal and state government health programs.

Prior to joining U Health, he worked at Intermountain Healthcare as a senior consultant and director of population health. Hales holds a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Brigham Young University.
